Basketball, (English basketball; 'basket' and ball, 'ball'), Note 1 or just basketball, 1 is a team sport in which two sets of five players each try to score points, also called baskets or double and / or triple introducing a ball into a hoop placed 3.05 meters above the ground from which hangs a network, giving it a look basket or basket.
It was invented by James Naismith, a Canadian physical education teacher
in December 1891 in the YMCA of Springfield, Massachusetts, United States. It
is played with two teams of five people, during 4 periods or quarters of 10
(FIBA), 4 or 12 minutes each. (NBA) At the end of the second quarter, a break,
usually 15 to 20 minutes is done according to the regulations championship own
party to which he belongs.
Professor Naismith analyzed the sports
activities practiced at the time, whose dominant feature was the force or
physical contact, and thought of something sufficiently active, that required
more skill than strength and not having much physical contact. Canadian
remembered an old childhood game called "Duck on a Rock" (the duck on
a rock), which was to try to reach an object placed on a rock throwing a stone.
There are other theories as invented. Naismith asked the manager of the school
boxes of 50 cm in length but all that got him was a few baskets of peaches,
which sent hanging on the railings of the upper gallery surrounding the gym, at
a certain height.
Main rules Basketball History
James Naismith devised a
set of thirteen rules for the fledgling sport. These were:
1. The ball may be thrown
in any direction with one or both hands.
2. The ball can be hit in
any direction with one or both hands, but never with the fist.
3. A player can not run
with the ball. The player must throw it from the place where you take it.
4. The ball must be held in
or between the hands. The arms or body must not be used for holding.
5. No shouldering, holding,
pushing, striking or tripping an opponent. The first infringement of this rule
by any person shall count as a foul, the second shall disqualify him until the
next goal is achieved, or, if there was evident intent to cause injury, for the
rest of the game. It wont be allowed the substitution of the infractor.
6. foul is considered hit
the ball with the fist, violations of Rules 3 and 4 and described in Rule 5.
7. If a team makes three
consecutive fouls (without the opponent has done no in that interval), one
point for its opposites will be counted.
8. Points will be achieved
when the ball is thrown or batted from the track, falls into the basket and
stays there. If the ball rests on the edge and an opponent moves the basket, it
shall count as a point.
9. When the ball goes out
of bounds, will be released within the field and played by the first person
touching it. In case of doubt, the referee tosses the ball in a straight line
to the field. The thrower has five seconds. If it takes longer, the ball passes
to the opponent.
10. The assistant referee,
"umpire", penalized players shall note the fouls and also notify the
"referee" (main referee, see next point) when a team commits three
consecutive fouls. You shall have power to disqualify players under regulation
5.
11. The main referee,
"referee" play the ball and decide when it is in play, within, or
outside, to whom it belongs, and shall keep the time. You decide when a point
is achieved, it will take the marker and any other own task of a referee.
12. The time shall be two
halves of 15 minutes with a 5 minute break between them.
13. The team with the most
points is the winner.
